About Thame Personal Training

George Anderson

Graduating from Loughborough University in 2002 with a Masters degree in Automotive Engineering, George made the decision to not to follow a conventional pathway for engineering graduates. Whilst at Loughborough George had competed for the university athletics team at 400m and his love of sport had also lead to pursuing his fitness qualifications.

This, along with the experience of working for 3 years in a local gym is what led to George embarking on a career as a freelance personal trainer in Reading. Working out of a Fitness First gym, George soon developed a reputation for achieving results and over the last 7 years has amassed more than 5000 personal training hours. In an industry where the average career duration is little more than 9 months, George has proved his longevity as a trainer and has been helping clients at the club longer than any other trainer. George also spent 5 years teaching spin, circuits and Body Balance.

In 2004 George was also hired by the club as the fitness manager, whilst continuing to work with a reduced client base. This position was held for 2˝ years, in which time he was nominated as national fitness manager of the year. In 2006 George left the management position and started his company Kinetic Health and Fitness Ltd., increasing the number of clients he was able to work with personally.

In 2008 George moved with his family to Thame and reduced his time commitments in Reading to just 3 days a week, freeing up time to spend working with clients locally. Thame Personal Training is the local arm of Kinetic Health and Fitness, with all the same values and commitment that has helped the company grow to become one of the most respected fitness professionals in Berkshire.

George’s passion for helping others extends beyond working 1:1 with private clients. In 2006, national fitness education providers Drummond Education invited George to join their growing team of educators, where he now holds the position of senior lecturer. Specialising in lecturing on the subject of advanced resistance training, postural analysis and functional flexibility, George has presented all over the UK and has also lead several courses in the Punjab in India.

Through his work as an educator, George has also had the opportunity to present at two of the most prestigious national fitness conventions, FitPro and the Blackpool International Fitness Showcase. He is also a regular workshop presenter (kettlebells, circuits, alternative equipment etc.) for national equipment distributer Physical Company, based locally at High Wycombe.

Alongside working with 1:1 clients George also helps thousands of runners each year prepare for major running events. For the last 6 years he has been the fitness advisor to the Reading Half Marathon, providing training programs and advice to runners as well as leading the mass warm up and pacemakers during the race itself. For the last 2 years George has provided similar training support to the Dublin Marathon and several smaller events in both the UK and Ireland.

Through George’s work with runners, he has developed a series of training workshops, which he presents in Reading, Cork and Dublin on a regular basis. He currently runs the Reading Half Marathon Training Club, www.readinghalfmarathontraining.co.uk
